April 8, 1999 Concert Review

Main

On April 8th, 1999 I went to a 98 Degrees Concert at the Wilturn Theater in Los Angeles. It was a Thursday, the next day I had to leave early in the morning to go visit my future college. I am writing this months after the concert, so I am sorry if it is not 100% accurate. This concert was part of the "Heat It Up" tour and I enjoyed it a lot. This was my first real concert - at the age of 17 my first concert - all you young people that go to concerts are soo lucky! I encourage everyone to go see 98 Degrees in concert. The opening acts were actually pretty good. Wild Orchid, B*Witched, and Jessica Simpson were openers at this concert. I thought they all did a good job. Well, at the beginning of 98 Degrees' act, the guys came out as a voice narrated something about "year 2010" and 98 Degrees being the world's "only hope." It's hard to understand, and corny when you do understand it, but it has an interesting story line. The guys started out, predictably, with "Heat It Up." I love seeing them perform this song because they have cool choreography. I personally like the part when Nick and Justin "bounce" together and point to the audience, that part's just cool! Another highlight of the evening was when the guys sang "My Name is.....98º" A piece adapted from Eminem, that Nick wrote himself. This song was designed to introduce as many of the guys' songs as possible - Nick, you did a good job of that! The audience really like the part when 98º did "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)" by Offspring for comic relief. Jeff is so cute in that part! The guys also sang these songs:
"If She Only Knew"
"Invisible Man"
"Fly With Me"
"Can't Get Next To You" by the Four Tops
"Do You Wanna Dance" ~ during this song, Drew asks a girl to come dance with him onstage - the girl he asked during this concert wouldn't go up there, how lame!
"I Do (Cherish You)"
"Superstition" by Stevie Wonder
"True To Your Heart"
"1999" by Prince
And for an encore, the guys sang "Because of You" and "The Hardest Thing." This concert was cool and better than the All That Tour in that the guys sang more songs. Both were very worth seeing though. Everyone get out there and see these guys live, you won't be sorry, they're simply awesome! And they sound so good in person!
