98º on the News! 2/27/03
98 Degrees appeared on the news on a Cincinnati channel
on Wednesday. Justin was in the studio, and Nick and Drew were on
video feed somewhere else. Here's a transcript (it's hard to tell
what the host is saying so it isn't completely correct, but you get the
idea):Host: One of the
biggest vocal groups in the music industry has deep connections to the
tri-state area. I'm talking about 98 Degrees. But, we
haven't heard from them in a while. So, joining me this morning is
Cincinnati native, Justin Jeffre. Hey, how's it going?
Justin: Good, how are you doing?
Host: Thanks for joining us, nice to meet you. Also,
via satellite, we are thrilled to have two other members of the group,
brothers Drew and Nick Lachey, also Cincinnati natives. How are
you guys doing?
Nick: Good, good, how are you?
Host: I'm sure you're missing this freezing cold weather we
have here, aren't you?
Nick: Oh yeah, yeah. It's actually raining out here
so we're uh we're not not doing that well ourselves.
Host: So you're not too home sick I guess.
Nick: We're always homesick these days.
Host: Justin, let me start with you. What have you been up
to lately?
Justin: Well, we've all been working on different projects.
Uh, me personally I've started a management company and doing some
producing with uh some new artists and actually some artists right here
from Cincinatti.
Host: Now here's a CD you brought with an artist you're
with now.
Justin: Yeah, this is one of the artists I'm working with.
His name's Lucky [Spalding?]. He's really talented and I've known
him for a few years and you know in the past we were always on the road
so I was too busy to really have time to work with him but now since
we've all been working on different projects uh you know I've had a
little more time to work with him.
Host: Nick, Drew, let me ask you, what have you guys been
up to lately?
[Nick and Drew look at each other and giggle]
Nick: Actually, actually I just finished a solo record that
I've been working on for a little over a year and uh the first single is
coming out April 1st so I'm very excited about that, and that's pretty
much, pretty much been my focus over the last year, besides getting
married of course and things in your personal life. Professionally
that's, that's what I've been doing.
Drew: And I've been doing some acting. I did an independent
film, uh earlier or late last year and I've been auditioning this year
for pilot season and things like that. Just uh, waiting for the
right role to come along for me to take the big screen by storm [Nick
laughs].
Host: Now let me ask you guys for your fans. There
have been rumors that 98 Degrees is breaking up. Let's set the
record straight, what's the truth?
Drew: No, we're not. [both laugh]
Nick: We certainly understand why that, why that speculation
is out there and uh we decided to take a break and have an opportunity
to focus on individual goals and on our personal lives and what-not.
But we, uh the four of us just got together a couple of weeks ago and
talked about our next record and talked about the things we want to
accomplish still as a group in this business. So we're still very much
together.
Drew: Definitely.
Host: Have you set a date for when you might have another
album out?
Justin: I think it's a little premature to put a date on it.
At this point in our career, you know, we feel like it's not, you know,
we don't feel like a huge rush, you know, we felt like, you know, we
really accomplished a lot with the other records and, you know, we felt
that it was time to really enjoy our lives a little bit and kind of
spend some time, you know, getting our personal lives together and
working on different projects and uh I think that once, once its ready
then we'll set a date but we don't want to rush anything.
Host: Talking about personal lives, you're a single guy
still. [Turning ot Nick and Drew] Hey guys got any advice
for him? Both of you are married.
Drew: Uh...
Nick: Keep holdin' out J. [both laugh]
Drew: [something about living single...]
Nick: Nah, I think uh you know it's an individual decision
that everyone has to make and Justin will certainly know when it's the
right time.
Host: how's married life?
Nick: Married life is definitely you know.
