This from WFMS.com:

Nick Lachey And Jessica Simpson's Steamy "Sweetest Sin"
Feed Time:6/27/2003 2:50:13 AM
Nick Lachey says he and wife Jessica Simpson wanted to make, quote, "one of the Top 10 sexiest videos of all time" with their clip for "Sweetest Sin." According to Launch.com, the Diane Warren-penned tune will be the first single from Simpson's next album, "In This Skin." The couple recently shot the video for the song, which Lachey calls "very sexy," and he admits he wouldn't be comfortable with Simpson shooting the video with anyone else. Consequently, Lachey made an effort to get buff for the camera. He explains, quote, "I worked pretty hard and tried to get as ripped up as I could. I was, you know, shirtless the entire shoot." Lachey's also happy with the results, saying the footage he's seen from the shoot is, quote, "really incredible." The single "Sweetest Sin" is slated to be featured on MTV's "Making the Video" on July 7th, and will be released on July 15th. The album "In This Skin" is scheduled to drop on August 19th, the same day Lachey's solo debut, "Soul-O," hits stores.

Nick And Jessica Keep It Real On Their New TV Show

Couple will make guest performance on 'Oprah' Wednesday, host specials from MTV's Beach House later this summer.

LOS ANGELES— Judging by their interaction backstage at the MTV Movie Awards, future reality TV stars Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson have some Osbournes-like potential, especially when the topic turned to his steamy new video.

"Three or four girls in my video and who go on the road with me are Pussycat Dolls," Lachey said, referring to the sexy Hollywood burlesque dance troupe (see "Christina, Gwen Stefani, Dita Von Teese Help Bring Back Burlesque"). "My choreographer [Robin Antin] is in charge of the Pussycat Dolls show, so obviously it was somewhat sexy choreography."

"Somewhat?" Simpson shot back, eyebrows raised.

"It wasn't over the top," Lachey argued. "The vibe of the song is sexy. I asked you to be in it."

"No you didn't," Simpson contended.

"You must've been asleep," Lachey answered with a smirk.

Of course, like any good TV, there's a happy ending. Simpson isn't really that jealous.

"I was there and I'm friends with the girls, so that makes it easier to hang out with them," she said.

"She was distant at first and not too comfortable, but it's all business," Lachey added. "They're hired to do a job and I'm hired to do a job."

The mostly performance video, directed by veteran Bille Woodruff (Nelly, R. Kelly), is for "Shut Up," the first single from the 98° member's solo debut, titled SoulO.

Due August 19, the album features production by the Matrix (see "Britney Spears, Avril Lavigne Fall Into The Matrix"), Keith Thomas (98°), Guy Chambers (Robbie Williams) and David Eriksen (Paulina Rubio), who co-wrote "This I Swear," which will likely be the theme song to the Lachey family's upcoming reality show (see "Mr. And Mrs. Nick Lachey Get Dose Of Reality; Tom Green To Take On Leno").

Nick and Jessica have had cameras on them for two months now and said they are definitely at the point where they forget the crew is there.

"There's always been reality shows about getting married and finding the person you're going to marry, but never about a couple," Simpson said about the idea for the show. "I think people will be interested to see how a celebrity couple manages time and makes everything work together."

"The first year of any marriage is pretty eventful, it's a huge adjustment," Lachey added. "We're no exception to that, plus we've got career things [going on] and we're crazy, so put it all together."

Before "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica" premieres August 4, the couple will host specials from MTV's Beach House during the summer.

Simpson is also releasing an album this summer (see "Nick Lachey, Jessica Simpson Expect To Deliver This Summer"). In This Skin is due August 19 and includes the single "The Sweetest Sin."

Nick & 98 Degrees article 6/29/03
This from LAUNCH media:
Nick Lachey Says Jeff Timmons Will Be Next To Go Solo
98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey is preparing for the release of his Universal Records solo debut album, Soul-O, on August 19th, and he says another member of the group is also working on solo material.

Lachey said that the other members of Ohio-based 98 Degrees, including brother Drew Lachey, Justin Jeffre, and Jeff Timmons, are keeping busy with projects of their own, and Timmons will most likely be the next member of the group to release a solo album: "Everyone's just kind of pursuing their own things. My brother's actually getting into some acting stuff, Justin has taken on a couple of different groups in Cincinnati and is trying to get them deals and is managing them, and Jeff is actually working on his own record at home. He wanted to spend time with his family and be at home, so he's been working on some music there. I think he's gonna put out a record on his own."

Despite a long break from recording the group does plan to hit the studio again eventually: "Everyone's staying busy just doing their own thing, and then after this little period is over we'll get back together and do another group record."

Lachey is also preparing for the August 4th debut of his MTV reality show The Newlyweds, which follows his life with his new bride, singer Jessica Simpson, during the couple's first year together.

Nick Lachey And Jessica Simpson Snap Back To Reality
Nick Lachey will release his solo debut album, Soul-O, on August 19th. The first single from the set, "Shut Up," has already been released to radio. Lachey is also preparing for the August 4th debut of his MTV reality show, The Newlyweds, which documents his life with his wife, singer Jessica Simpson, during the couple's first year of wedded bliss.

How has it been living under the watchful eye of a camera for nearly a year? "It sure makes you think about your life," Lachey said.

The 98 Degrees singer added that after a while he and Simpson forgot that the cameras were rolling -- until the couple reviewed the footage that was shot: "You're like, 'Wow, did I really do that and it was on camera? Ah, maybe I shouldn't do that anymore.' It like makes you kind of think about the way you do things. We don't really have anything to hide or to be ashamed of. We've really kind of gotten adjusted to it, and it's not a big deal anymore to us."

Meanwhile, Simpson's new album, This Skin, will be released on the same day as her husband's set, August 19th.

Blurb about Nick & Jess 6/24/03

I WAS MAID TO LOVE YOU
Its trouble in paradise! Newlyweds Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have a problem: She wants a maid and he doesn't! The couple have split up household chores but songstress Jessica is neglecting her laundry duties. "We don't know what's clean or dirty, there's so much of it!", says Nick. Jessica's excuse is that she is used to being in hotel rooms where there are maids and clean towels are a phone call away. Now that Nick is out of clean clothes to wear, it looks like he might have to give in and hire a maid." One thing I've learned about marriage is that she always gets her way, so we'll be getting a maid."

In its day, 98° was the No. 3 boy band, behind giants 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys. Nick Lachey held the group's lead—in terms of vocals, star presence, and sex appeal. Now married to fellow youth idol Jessica Simpson, there's little doubt that Lachey is ready to put boyhood memories in the scrapbook and step ahead, à la Justin Timberlake. He wrote and produced uptempo pop finger-thumper "Shut Up" with hot hit machine the Matrix, coming up with a funky party anthem that conjures '70s soul to fervent effect. Radio will be a mean battle, since most pop stations value image over substance these days—but Lachey's appealing "Shut Up" will silence those who don't believe he's got the goods to remain focused in the spotlight.—CT

all the best!

Nick Jess Video article! 6/21/03

Jessica Simpson is joined by her husband, 98 Degrees singer Nick Lachey, in the music video for her new single "Sweetest Sin." The track is the first from her upcoming album, In This Skin. Legendary songwriter Diane Warren wrote "Sweetest Sin," and the track will be available on July 15th.
Lachey said the video features the two scantily clad newlyweds rolling around on the beach, and one of them is topless: " It's a very sexy song. It's cool to do it with your wife -- obviously I wouldn't want to see her doing a video like that with anybody else, so yeah so I worked pretty hard and tried to get as ripped up as I could. I was, you know, shirtless the entire shoot and the pictures I've seen--the footage I've seen is really incredible, so I'm looking forward to that final video being done."
Lachey said the couple set out from the start to make one of the hottest videos ever. "Yeah, we wanted to create one of the top ten sexiest videos of all time--that was the goal," Lachey told us.
Simpson's latest clip will be on MTV's Making The Video on July 7th at 2 p.m. ET. Please check your local listings.
The couple is also preparing for the August 4th debut of their MTV reality show, The Newlyweds. Lachey's debut solo album Soul-O and Simpson's In This Skin, will both hit stores simultaneously on August 19th. Lachey and Simpson are also planning to tour together in support of their respective albums.

Nick radio interview 6/18/03
This from KDRQ 93.1:
Jay: I believe we have Nick Lachey on the line right now. Nick ya there?
Nick: Yeah
Jay: Aw man how are ya?
Nick: I'm good, how are ya?
Jay: We just had your lovely lovely wife in studio
Nick: I heardz
Jay: You did?
Nick: She told me all about it
Jay: I heard you're a little moody in the morning cuz we wanted to call you and she said no
Nick:*laughs*It's probably because I was in L.A. at the time and it was about 4am
Some other guy: That's more middle of the night then morning.
Jay: Oh come on Nick we were going to help promote the record for you. it was good for you. Nick how are things going? Tell me about the album.
Nick: Uh the new album is called Soulo. Umm and I'm just really excited about it. It's a little different from what people are probably used to hearing me doing...But umm the first single 'Shut Up' is definitely a departure from 98º, from that kind of sound.
Jay: Right
Nick: But uh I think it's cool. A lot of it is fresh and live horns and it's a little but funkier. I'm just really excited about it.
Rachel: 'Shut Up' it's called?
Nick: It's called 'Shut Up'
Rachel: Now uh what was the inspiration for that one
Nick *laughs*

Nick: Uh Jessica was actually my inspiration.
Jay: Really?
*Jay and Rachel laugh*
Jay: Was it before the MTV cameras, or during?
Nick: Before and after.
Jay: How fun was it and actually I thought that on that one episode of Punk'd you were gonna lose it and freak out.
Nick: That was about as tested as I have been in my resent memories. Yea it was pretty frustrating but I thought it was her family, ya know? so I'm trying to be you know I'm newly married and you know they're supposedly her family from Texas or w/e and I'm trying to be cool and she's giving me that look like you have to be nice there my family so I was doing my best, but it was driving me nuts he kept on calling me Rick and everything.
Jay: I know it was so funny.
Nick: Yeah, I was pretty ticked.
Jay: So Nick, the new album,s called 'Soulo'
Nick: Soulo S-O-U-L-O
Jay: And you and Jessica are putting these out on the same day?
Nick: Oh yeah the competition is on.
Jay: I love that.
Nick: We're taking bets and everything.
Jay: So you've done so many shows for us in Detroit, are you going to be doing some solo touring?
Nick: Yeah, I definitely want to give the music the chance to sink in and to settle with people and uh but touring is what I like to do the most so I definitely plan on touring. Hopefully with Jessica. We would both love to do that.
Rachel: I was just going to ask.
Nick: Yeah you know now that we're married you definitely don't want to be away from your wife for a long period of time. So if we can tour together that's the best.
Jay: So lets play a game here this morning.
Jay: because Jessica was in studio with us and she has been here more then any other artist we'll do a little game of you guess what Jessica said
Nick: uh oh
Jay: are you ready?
Nick: yea
*now they play a clip of what Jessica said and Jay is talking to Jessica from when she was there a few weeks ago*
Jay: I have have a question for you
Jess: yea
Jay: you have been one of those singers who has always been upfront with everyone and strong and opinionated with everyone that it is very good to wait until your married to have sex
Jess: right
Jay: real PG version, was it worth the wait?
*now they come back to Nick*
Jay: what do you think she said after I asked her that question
Nick: uh probably no I expected more
*everyone laughs*
Jay: lets see what she said
*back to playing the tape with Jess*
Jess: absolutely it was worth the wait
*back to with Nick*
Nick: that's my girl
Jay: she said absolutely. she wouldn't diss you.  well actually she did diss you when I asked her this question
*back to clip of what Jessica said*
Jess: we didn't live with each other before this so there are like all new things
Rachel: does he have any annoying habits?
*back with Nick*
Jay: does he have any annoying habits is the question. what do you think she said?
Nick: absolutely
Jay: be more specific
Nick: she probably said I'm to anal about keeping the house clean or something
Jay: all right I think anal is the magic word
*back to clip of what Jessica said*
Jess: Nick is ya know very anal
*back with Nick*
Rachel: wow that was good Nick
Nick: uh
Jay: and the last comment that she made
*back to clip of what Jessica said*
Jess: Nick wont let me hire a maid
Jay: you cant have a housekeeper?
Jess: he wont let me
Jay: he wont let someone come in
Jess: no. you don't understand. like Nick and drew had to carry everything into our new house. he wouldn't get a u-haul. he wouldn't pay for movers. I'm like Nick it can't be done
*back to Nick*
Jay: see I have a theory about this Nick. I have followed your career very carefully from the days of 'invisible man' which is a great song I think that you have worked so hard and long you like being a little more careful when it comes to spending money
Nick: right. I don't think there is anything wrong with watching your money. like for the u-haul thing I do regret though I would have gotten it instead of having a drive this pain in the ass 6 speed down the highway. that was a bad call and for the record since then we have gotten a maid. I couldn't take it anymore.
Rachel: Jess was telling us about her throwing her clothes in the hallway
Nick: yeah see Jessica doesn't realize how good she has it, ya know? I mean she's 22, she lives in a beautiful house and she's got money and ya know she's never had to do her own laundry so she's spoiled...
Jay: its good though that you're like the guy in the relationship that's making dinner and taking care of the laundry and stuff I mean women would die to have a guy like that
Nick: no I do a little bit of laundry but I stay away from cooking. that's Jessicas field. I couldn't cook to save my life.
Jay: the new album Soulo Nick Lachey on with us and the new single. whats it called?
Nick: its called 'shut up'... 'shut up' Jessica.
*Jay and Rachel laugh*
Jay: it is up-tempo
Nick: yea it's up-tempo. it's got live horns. I don't really think there is anything else that sounds like it that is out right now. its pretty fresh. its about basically 2 people at each others thoughts and disagreeing and it comes to a point where your just like ya know lets just shut up and get down to business
Jay: best luck with the album we want you to come to Detroit with us and tell the boys from 98* when you see them that we miss them and we're glad you're doing it solo style
Rachel: congratulations on the marriage
Nick: thank you. thank you guys

  Nick interview in Cosmo 6/9/03

How is your new solo album different from your past work with 98º?
It's more guitar driven, and less about ballads which is what 98 degrees is known for. The songs aren't quite as safe.

What in particular inspired the songs you wrote?
Edge of Eternity is about getting married and standing on the edge of the rest of your life. So that was inspired by Jessica.

Why did you two decide to do a reality show?
MTV has been a huge part of both of our lives and careers, and it's a good opportunity to do something that is going to give us more exposure, the commitment to it is pretty extensive, they are involved in everything we do. But the bedroom is off limits for sure.  You have to set boundaries and draw the line somewhere to preserve your sanity.

So how did you initially win Jessica over?
My mom was with me and I told her "I'm going to marry that girl, I know it" then I asked her to go sell me to Jessica. She talked to Jessica all night and told her what a good person I am. My mom was my wingman.

What do you find sexy in a woman?
Attitude is so important. Confidence and spunk. I like a little drama now and then.... I think that's incredibly sexy.
