Jive Inks Nick Lachey To Solo Deal
Nick Lachey has signed with Jive Records, which is
expected to release his second solo album later this year. Lachey was previously
signed Universal Records, which issued his first solo set, "SoulO," in
November 2003.
As
previously reported, MTV will air a reality show on Lachey's solo career and
the making of his album. The show is tentatively scheduled to premiere in April.
Lachey already stars with his wife, Jessica Simpson, in the MTV reality series
"Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica."
"SoulO" peaked at No. 51 on The
Billboard 200 and has sold 160,000 copies in the United States, according to
Nielsen SoundScan.
In related news, MTV has inked a deal with Cameron Diaz for a reality adventure
series, "Trippin'," that will feature the actress and others traveling
to exotic locations. DMX, Kid Rock, Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 and Redman are
among the music artists who will be featured on the program, which premieres
March 28.
