Welcome to MSN Live! We're happy to have you here as part of our MSN Live
audience where every row is front row! Our guests tonight are 98 Degrees--- Nick
Lachey, Jeff Timmons, Justin Jeffre and Drew Lachey!
DDD says: Let's have a big shout out for 98 Degrees!
Let's first welcome Jeff Timmons!
Jeff, welcome to MSN Live! It's great to see you!
Jeff Timmons says: Well it's great to be here and I'd like to thank
everyone for taking the time out to chat with us today!
DDD says: You know, Jeff, there have been fans in here since
yesterday—waiting for you.
Jeff Timmons says: That's amazing to see that we have such loyal fans.
We're surprised and thrilled that they are so dedicated to us.
Sandra says: Your new single is "Una Noche." Is the whole song
in Spanish? Also, do any of you speak foreign languages?
Jeff Timmons says: No, the whole song is not all in Spanish only. Una
Noche means One Night. Nick and I dabble in French a little bit. We took it in
high school. But we're nowhere close to being fluent.
Marcy926 Asks: Hello 98°! First off I would like to say that you guys
have amazing talent and I would like to thank you for making such beautiful
music. My question is, why is it that you guys decided to have more up-tempo
songs on your album?
Jeff Timmons says: Marcy, because that's something that has been lacking
on our previous albums. Every time we go to a club with music playing in the
background we never hear any of our stuff because it's too slow. So we wanted to
make some music that would get people out of their seats and put that on the
album.
Barb says: I'm sure that your career has allowed you to travel all over
the world. Where is your favorite place to travel to?
Jeff Timmons says: Barb, my favorite places are a toss up between
Australia and South East Asia. Both beautiful countries and beautiful weather.
sweet ae chick says: Do you enjoy touring?
Jeff Timmons says: Touring is a lot of fun, but it can sometimes become
very grueling because you miss your family and friends.
Roxy says: What is the next single that they are going to make it in
video?
Jeff Timmons says: The first single that is coming out is "Una Noche"
and there will be a video for it.
jennyfour39 says: Hi. I think you guys are really talented. When did you
guys get together and form 98 degrees?
Jeff Timmons says:Thank you for the nice compliment. We got together in
the summer of '95 and I met Nick through a mutual friend in Ohio.
Angelstars says: Hello 98º guys. I'm from Puerto Rico Island. I just
want to ask you if you have plan visiting all countries around the world or only
the one you choose. I want to know if they important people gave you the places
you have to go or you just choose it?
Jeff Timmons says:The important people give us the places to go and they
are the fans. Wherever we are well received, will guarantee a performance.
JeffzHoney says: What direction are you guys going with the new album? Is
it more pop or R&B?
Jeff Timmons says: This album will definitely be a pop album, but it will
have lots of different flavors including R&B and Funk.
jeffgrl Asks: Jeff, what position in football did you play?
Jeff Timmons says: I played inside linebacker and defensive end.
Juniper11 Asks: What is the name of your next album?
Jeff Timmons says: The next album is called "Revelation."
vvy says: What are you guys doing this summer?
Jeff Timmons says: This summer we're going to be promoting the new album,
visiting radio stations, and getting ready for tour.
Any idea when the tour dates will be posted on your site
http://www.98degrees.com
Jeff Timmons says: I'm not sure when the tour will be, probably the end
of next fall.
Janice says: I'd like to ask what is the most embarrassing thing that has
happened on stage to you all?
Jeff Timmons says: I've had a million embarrassing moments. Probably the
most was when I was walking backwards on stage while singing to a girl in the
audience and I tripped over a speaker and a mic flew into the crowd. I hit my
head and thought I'd be looking up to sympathetic fans, but when I looked up the
fans were in an uproar of laughter. It was really funny.
raw205 says: Are you guys ever bothered by some of the rumors and such
that you hear?
Jeff Timmons says: No, you can't get bothered by rumors. Usually it's
from people who don't have anything better to do than make up stories. So, you
can't let that stuff get to you.
AsuTrnr Asks: Would you say you are the same person now that you were the
day you signed your recording contract or has fame and fortune changed you a
bit?
Jeff Timmons says: AsuTrnr, fame and fortune have definitely changed me.
Well fortune hasn't come yet. (laugh) It's changed me in a better way to have
gotten the opportunities I've had to do the things we've done in the last couple
of years after signing. So, I definitely appreciate life so much more.
98Degreesfan says: If you were to appear on "Who Wants to be a
Millionaire," who would be your phone a friend?
Jeff Timmons says: My phone a friend would be my father because he should
have gone on a game show years ago. He's really smart. And I'd be like calling
him after the first question. (laugh)
Jeff, thanks!
Jeff Timmons says: Thank you all I have to go back in to record, I'm
going to hand off to Drew.
Drew is coming up next!
Hey, Drew, welcome to MSN Live!
Drew Lachey says: What's up everybody! Thanks for taking the time to log
on and be part of our chat!
AbercrombieGRL says: If you could do anything in the world that you
haven't done yet, what would it be?
Drew Lachey says: Skydive. I've always been an extremist.
Would you bungee jump?
Drew Lachey says: Of course!
Have you yet?
Drew Lachey says: Not yet. I haven't found a place that I thought was
safe enough yet.
Barbie_Q says: How long does it take to think up songs and write them
down in such a creative way?
Drew Lachey says: It honestly depends on the song. Each song writes
itself in a different way.
BabyGurl8 says: Do you ever get nervous on stage?
Drew Lachey says: Fortunately yes! Because if you don't get nervous you
might lose your concentration a bit. But this way, it keeps you on your toes.
Blueeyez says: When is the new CD coming out?
Drew Lachey says: September 26th. You can call and request our new single
on August 1st.
ILuvJeffyBabe Asks: Okay growing up I know that kids are usually afraid
of things such as the Boogy Man and for me Chucky! What were you all afraid of?
Drew Lachey says: I was afraid of JAWS.
You know it's coming out on DVD this summer.
Drew Lachey says: I watch it now, but at the time, when I was four years
old, I was afraid JAWS was going to eat my bed.
Did mom tell you your bed wasn't in an ocean?
Drew Lachey says: Yeah she did. (laugh)
kr: Are you going to make a movie soon?
Drew Lachey says: No. We've got our plate plenty full just making our
records. We feel if we're going to do something, we should do it 100%.
Marcy926 Asks: Hello! Thanks for coming to chat with your fans 98°. It
is much appreciated! My question is: During these past 6 months that you've been
working on the album have you missed doing things like touring, making various
appearances, and dealing with fans?
Drew Lachey says: Yes. Very much so. There's no other excitement than
performing and getting that kind of response from the fans. That's why we're
very excited to get our new record out there and get back out on the road.
prettybaby says: Do you ever get to hang out at home with your friends or
do you always get mobbed?
Drew Lachey says: I get to hang out with my friends on a very limited
basis. But when I am at home because they treat me as the same person.
bballrl_74 says: Do you ever feel that you have to compete with your
brother Nick?
Drew Lachey says: Honestly, no. Even growing up I never really competed
with him. We had our own separate interests and we were always encouraged by our
parents to pursue our own things.
bella says: Hi Guys! Thanks for meeting your fans! I was wondering, do
any of you collect anything?
Drew Lachey says: We collect sports memorabilia and CDs, music.
Amy_007 Asks: I would like to ask who, musically, is an inspiration to
you?
Drew Lachey says: I've been inspired by several different artists.
Prince, Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, to name a few.
spanisheyes says: Please ask them, HI guys! What's your worst experience
has been since have been famous!?
Drew Lachey says: There have been so many good experiences. Some of the
best have been being a part of the Make A Wish Foundation. The worst I would
have to say would be just not being able to see your family.
Crashman says: Where are you all from originally?
Drew Lachey says: From Cincinnati, Ohio. Me, Jeff and Justin. Nick is
from Massillon, Ohio.
Scoopbaby says: What do you guys like to do on the bus, while traveling?
Drew Lachey says: Of course movies pass a lot of times, and video games,
especially Madden Football.
Favorite movie?
Drew Lachey says: I've got a lot of them. "Braveheart" is one
of my favorites and "Grumpy Old Men."
italianbeb14 says: Who would be the next artist you would like to work
with?
Drew Lachey says: We've always wanted to work with Boyz II Men in some
capacity.
taralovesisaac Asks: What is your favorite album of ALL time? Love Ya,
Tara~13~PA
Drew Lachey says: Prince's "Hits 1."
shoregirl says: I am so happy to meet you. I am so excited! I know you
have met a lot of famous people. Has anyone floored you?
Drew Lachey says: Stevie Wonder without a doubt. He has achieved more
success than anyone could dream of, yet he still took the time to talk to us and
make us feel comfortable. Not to mention have a jam session in his trailer.
Drew- thanks for being with us! I appreciate you being our guest tonight live
from your recording session!
Drew Lachey says: Thank you to everyone once again for supporting us in
the past and look out for our new album coming out September 26th
"Revelation." Next up is Nick.
Nick, how ya doing?
Nick Lachey says: Hi everybody, thanks for logging on. Fire away!
Princessluvsu03 says: Hey Nick! I was just wondering if you are planning
on making any new duets with Jessica Simpson and are you still really close? And
are you all planning on doing any charity events any time soon?
Nick Lachey says: There's no more duets planned right away, but we would
love to do another one again someday. Yeah, we've actually done a few charities
lately. We did the Pediatric AIDS here in LA. We're doing Arthur Ashe Day in
August.
PlayBoyBunny Asks: I am like your biggest fan. I listen to you CD 24/7 so
I was wondering what is the weirdest thing that a fan has ever done to get
something of yours or to get close to you guys?
Nick Lachey says: One of the weirdest thing when you stay in hotels, a
girl snuck in a catering cart and jumped out from under the catering cart and
started taking pictures. Girls all over the country do things that blow my mind.
princessnat_3_2001 Asks: Natalie in Texas. What is your best childhood
memory and why? P.S. 98 degrees is the best!
Nick Lachey says: Thank you! I think one of my best childhood memories
was hitting a home run in the first little league game my dad got to see me play
in.
Jen_cal98 says: How long did your tattoo take to get on your back?
Nick Lachey says: It took about an hour. It's a Phoenix. It symbolizes
rebirth and determination.
Christina says: Do they read all their fan letters?
Nick Lachey says: We try and read as many as we possibly can. Drew and my
Grandmother will read fan letters and we try and respond when we can.
PrettyDancing02 says: What was your favorite music video to make and why?
Nick Lachey says: I think my favorite video was "The Hardest
Thing." Because I had to get in shape to shoot it. I really enjoyed working
with Wayne.
HeatherlovesNick says: You look so great. Do you work out and do you have
a favorite snack food?
Nick Lachey says: Thank you. I try and work out whenever I can. My
favorite snack food is a tough call between pretzels and ice cream.
Flavor?
Nick Lachey says: Pistachio.
You know, Ben & Jerry's makes a great pistachio ice cream.
HotLips Asks: Who is your role model and why?
Nick Lachey says: My role model is my father.
cuteambs Asks: What is your favorite song that Jess sings?
Nick Lachey says: "I Wanna Love You Forever."
tigger001 says: Could you ask them what is the toughest thing about the
whole business?
Nick Lachey says: It's probably just the migrant existence. Which is fun
for a while, but after a couple of years you miss being in one place.
MelissaJ says: Being on the road so much, what do you take with you to be
comfortable or remind you of home?
Nick Lachey says: Not too much. I'm still used to living out of a
suitcase, so other than my CDs, I don't take much.
marissa Vivianna says: Did Nick ever get his degree in sports medicine?
Nick Lachey says: No, I didn't get my degree. I have about two years
left. I left school to do this.
Would you go back to school?
Nick Lachey says: I enjoy music much more than I enjoyed sports medicine,
so probably not. But I do believe that school is important.
blondy_13 says: Nick what is your favorite thing to do when you take time
off?
Nick Lachey says: Just completely relax. If I have a vacation, just enjoy
laying there, doing nothing. If I have time off, I do make a point of seeing
Jessica since we don't see each other that much. But if I can just relax here,
it's perfect.
Licia says: Love your site!! Do you surf and where do you go?
Nick Lachey says: I'm not a big computer person, but most of the times
when I do go online, it's to ESPN.com or JessicaSimpson.com.
What a good boyfriend you are! Nice plug!
Nick Lachey says: I do go on the message boards at 98degrees.com as well.
Nick, thanks a lot for spending time with us tonight!
Nick Lachey says: Thanks for the support. Look out for our new single
"Una Noche." Can't wait to get back out there. I hope everyone enjoys
this album as much as we enjoyed making it. I'm handing off to Justin.
Justin, welcome! Great to see you!
Justin Jeffre says: What's up everybody? Thanks for coming online!
snowbunni Asks: Is Ric still your musical director?
Justin Jeffre says: Yes, Rick is not only our musical director, but also
a good friend.
sweetheart_2000 Asks: I saw you guys in concert last summer, here in Cali.
Your show was awesome! When will you be touring again, and what kind of show can
we expect?
Justin Jeffre says: Thank you very much. Our next show is going to be
much better. We have a lot more production, meaning pyro, dancers, and exciting
things, and of course new music from the new album. It's going to be more up
tempo and a lot more fun.
~kRaSeE~ Asks: I wanna know what you think about being stereotyped as a
boyband? How do you cope with the pressure of being idols?
Justin Jeffre says: Well we've never really like being called a boyband
because there's some negative connotations that come along with that that don't
really fit our group. But at the same time, the bands that we're compared to are
very successful and talented. We're very flattered that people sometimes idolize
us, although it can be a lot of pressure.
Always98Gurl says: Hey Justin! I am a huge fan of yours! What your first
major thing you bought with the money from your success?
Justin Jeffre says: Thank you very much, first of all. The only big thing
I've had enough money to buy was a new truck.
JACEMAKAVELLI says: Just out of curiosity, I want to know overall what is
your favorite fashion designer?
Justin Jeffre says: There's so many great styles out there, it's hard to
pick just one. But I guess I've been a fan of Polo for the longest time. Ever
since I was a young kid.
SweetKisses2Drew Asks: Hi guys my name is Sabrina. I loved your show at
Broadway at the beach in Myrtle Beach. I just wanted to know if you weren't
singing what do u think u would do?
Justin Jeffre says: I would probably either be going to graduate school
or doing something with music, not necessarily being an artist.
Angel98 says: Hi Justin! Is life on the road fun? Do you ever forget
where you are? What is you ritual before a show?
Justin Jeffre says: Life on the road can be a lot of fun. It's also a lot
of work and very tiring. Sometimes you do forget what city you're in because
you're in a different city everyday. And we always say a prayer before every
show.
VenusinIO says: Hi there! What is the most memorable moment in the group
so far?
Justin Jeffre says: I guess the most memorable moment for me was meeting
either Stevie Wonder or the President.
lil_cutie_98degrees Asks: Are you planning on having any a capella songs
on their upcoming album?
Justin Jeffre says: Actually we might not have any a capella songs, but
we'll definitely have some a cappella interludes. We've written a lot of songs
for the album and it's hard to choose the very best ones. But we're excited
about what we've come up with.
Aloha_98Degrees says: Aloha Justin! How do you think you would do on a
show like "Survivor"?
Justin Jeffre says: Well I've actually never really watched the show so
it's hard to say. But I suppose I would do alright.
Aussichick says: What's the best country you have ever visited??
Justin Jeffre says: That's really a tough question because every country
has something special about it. I think my favorite would have to be Indonesia,
Australia, and Italy.
SapphireEyes19 says: Will the song "Superstition" be on the new
CD? We saw y'all perform it live and it was awesome!
Justin Jeffre says: Thank you very much. It won't be on the CD, however
you can still see it in concert from time to time. It's one of our favorite
Stevie Wonder songs.
star00 says: Hi I'm watching the Mariah Carey special and you guys are
singing with her. How was that experience like?
Justin Jeffre says: It was incredible to meet someone I had looked up to
for such a long time. Definitely an experience I will never forget. Mariah Carey
and Joe are some of the best artists around today.
Scoopbaby says: Hey Nick! How often do you work out?
Justin Jeffre says: Thank you very much. Not nearly enough. (laugh)
Whenever I get into the gym, but our schedule is pretty tough.
Justin, thanks for being with us tonight! Last question is from 98DegreesGurlll
who says: What cracks you up? What makes you really lose it laughing?
Justin Jeffre says: It's usually Jeff. He can be so off the wall
sometimes. All the guys have a pretty good sense of humor so that helps us stay
sane on the road.
Guys, thanks a lot for being our guests this evening!
Justin Jeffre says: I just want to say thanks to everyone for coming
online and hearing what we have to say. Look out for the new album. It's going
to be the best one yet. We love you all!
98 Degrees new CD "Revelation" will be available on September 26.
Fox.com Chat
8/01/00
FOX.com Host: Hey, guess what!
FOX.com Host: The men of the hour - 98 Degrees have arrived!!!
Nick Lachey: Hey everybody! Thanks for logging on! Have Fun.
Jeff Timmons: What's up everybody! Thanks for joining us!
Drew Lachey: Thanks to everybody for taking the time out to log on and
being interested to ask questions!
Justin Jeffre: I am saying ditto!
cherrylips73: How long have you guys been together as a group??
Nick Lachey: We're celebrating our 5 year anniversary this year...so five
years!
Franchette: Hi guy how was your experience wining last year TCA? I love
Jeff!
Jeff Timmons: We were flattered an honored to receive that award and it
was very special to us. Thanks a lot!
tinybug_69:Where did you guys meet?
Drew Lachey: Nick and I are brothers, and we went to school in
Cincinnati. A mutual friend of ours introduced us to Jeff out here in Los
Angeles.
Drew Lachey: We went to school with Justin in Cincinnati.
lauraluvs98: what is your favorite of your songs to perform?
Justin Jeffre: We are currently working on new songs off the album, we
like doing the choreography because it is fresh material
Sabrina: Hi guys, I have to say that I am really impressed with Una Noche.
I'm a Latin music fanatic, but I would like to know why you chose for this song
to have a Latin beat? Keep up the great work guys, now I can go out clubbing,
and still hear your music...how cool is that?!! lol
Nick Lachey: The song was already written and we heard it and loved that
it had a Latin vibe
Nick Lachey: and that's why we picked it to be our first single
Cabby: how did you come up with the name Revelation?
Drew Lachey: The past several years, we've had a lot of new experiences
that have opened up our eyes. Kind of like a Revelation. This album is a
reflection of that.
Afrique: Why did you decide to add a Latin flavor?
Justin Jeffre: We have always loved Latin music, and the Latin flavor and
this is a very sexy and exciting song
fraggle33: Is your CD all Latin or does it have some songs like on the
other albums as well?
Jeff Timmons: no, that CD is all in English with the one Latin song,
"Una Noche"
Afrique: How will your new CD be different from the last?
Nick Lachey: First of all, we wrote 10 of the 12 songs on this CD so
we're more involved creatively in making it.
Nick Lachey: And secondly, we tried to put more of an emphasis on great up tempo
songs in addition to the great ballads.
Afrique: What have you be up the past few months excluding making the new
CD ?
Drew Lachey: After the New Year, we decided to take some time off.
Drew Lachey: Nick has been working with Jessica, and we've all been writing on
the side, just trying to prepare for this new album.
98snumber1fan: Would you guys rather do more ballads or more upbeat song
with fast choreo?
Justin Jeffre: Well we are definitely known for our ballads but we are
excited about our up tempos because it will add a lot to our shows
mocha: Which song describes each of you personally? And Justin I think
you are a very very sexy man!!
Justin Jeffre: Thank you very very much!
Nick Lachey: LOL
Justin Jeffre: Invisible man off of the first album
Nick Lachey: "My Everything" is my favorite song. Reflects me
the most.
Jeff Timmons: "Never Giving Up" because I'm really going to get
this singing thing down one of these days!
Drew Lachey: I would have to say......
Drew Lachey: Dizzy off of the new album!
lauraluvs98: Drew, do you sing any leads on Revelation?
Drew Lachey: Yes. I was fortunate enough that the other 3 guys let me
sing on this record! Just joking...hahahaha!
tjcdolphinangel98: Justin . . .babe. . . if you see this. . . I think you
are extremely talented, beautiful, sexy, and that voice melts me to my soul. . .
are we ever going to hear you sing lead???
Nick Lachey: Is that Justin's mom?
Justin Jeffre: Thank you I feel the same way about you!
Justin Jeffre: Ditto to infinity
98snumber1fan: first of all I want you to know you guys are the greatest
band out there and you have done so many good things for so many girls (and
guys) and my question is for Jeff..... Why cant you dance (not to be mean or
anything, but you are always like "I cant dance!")
Jeff Timmons: Something happened to me when I was very young; my mother
dropped me down three flights of stairs
Jeff Timmons: and my coordination has been impaired for life.
moogie: What do you guys do when you're not touring?
Nick Lachey: If we're not on tour, we're probably recording an album or
writing material for an album or planning a tour. There is no free time. We are
slaves.
lauraluvs98: I love you guys so much. I wanted to ask how you always keep
your voices so great?
Drew Lachey: To be honest, we don't take as good of care of them as we
should.
Drew Lachey: But you just have to warm up before every show. And not make
any sort of excessive noises. Like screaming!!
Afrique: What kind of music do like listening to?
Justin Jeffre: We like to listen to all different types of music we have
been inspired by artist from all different genres.
sugar_cube: What was it like writing so many of the songs for REVELATION!!!?
Which we're all SO excited about!
Jeff Timmons: It was fun!!
Jeff Timmons: It was a lot of fun and we were very happy that the record
company gave the freedom to be creative!
jeffsbiggestfan98: Jeff, were you nervous to reveal to Teen People that
you have a baby girl? Why did you decide to tell the press about Alyssa now?
Jeff Timmons: I never opted to never tell the press about my daughter.
Jeff Timmons: someone asked me and I said yeah.
Jeff Timmons: I'm so proud of her, and I have never been prouder of
anything in my life!
PrincessKatia: Jeff how old is your daughter?
Jeff Timmons: She's 19 months!
tjcdolphinangel98: jeff. .is she as cute as you are??
Drew Lachey: She's a LOT CUTER!
Drew Lachey: and she can DANCE!
mima: How do you choose who will sing the lead in your songs??????
Nick Lachey: It varies with every song.
Nick Lachey: Sometimes leads are more appropriate for someone's voice
range than other songs are. It's a combination of that and the producer's idea
for the song.
Nick Lachey: There's really no set formula.
Trumpet_2000: Who is the one who started the group?
Nick Lachey: It was Jeff. He was the forefather. He had the vision.
moogie: Who are your role models?
Drew Lachey: I think we all have our own individual role models we look
up to as people.
Drew Lachey: For me, it would be my grandfather.
Jeff Timmons: My father.
Jeff Timmons: He always bettered himself in his job, and when we were
kids we never went without anything.
Nick Lachey: My father would also be my role model. Just because he's the
type of man that I would want to be.
Justin Jeffre: I have always admired Oprah Winfrey because she has come
along way, now she is a very positive and influential person
sugarscube98: How do you guys feel about Eminem putting down boy bands?
Jeff Timmons: Who?
Jeff Timmons: I think it's funny; you can't take things too seriously.
Jeff Timmons: I just think it's funny.
Jeff Timmons: Eminem has to keep in mind that he is as mainstream as
anyone else out there.
Jeff Timmons: he's just as popular!
moogie: Do you guys consider yourselves a boy band like 'N'Sync and BSB?
Nick Lachey: We have never considered ourselves a boy band. And we'll
stand by that!
Nick Lachey: Although...it depends on what your definition of a boy band
is.
Nick Lachey: If BoysIIMen is a boy band, then 98 Degrees is a boy band.
tash: are you guys friends with N'Sync or the Backstreet Boys?
sweetchic013: Are you friends with other boy bands like N'Sync or
Backstreet boys??? Or enemies?
Justin Jeffre: We are actually good friends with N'Sync, which surprises
some people, they often think it is a rumor.
fraggle33: do you guys feel that Ur competing with N'Sync or Backstreet
boys?
Drew Lachey: As history shows, there's room in the music industry for
everyone.
Drew Lachey: We wish them nothing but the best!!!
98snumber1fan: Do you guys watch making the band? If you do.... how do
you feel about a band being thrown together like that? Would you prefer a band
to become a band more like the way 98degrees did?
Jeff Timmons: No.
Drew Lachey: Honestly I think that makes what we do as a living as a
joke. So I personally don't support it at all
Jeff Timmons: We don't watch it. It's definitely not true to life, for us
anyway.
MegLovesYouIAmErin: I wanted to know what you think about your big
following online??? Do you ever hang out online and check out sites people make
for you? HI JEFF! :):):):)
Jeff Timmons: HI!
Jeff Timmons: We don't have much time to hang out online any more. But
occasionally we check out the fan sites.
Jeff Timmons: we know it takes a lot of time, effort and dedication to
make them.
ShiningStar898: what are your most prized possessions or important things
in your life?
Nick Lachey: Mine would be my truck. I think. I don't own much.
Drew Lachey: for me, it would have to be all the pictures I've taken over
the years.
Justin Jeffre: I' d have to say my truck and my CD collection
Jeff Timmons: My favorite thing is my studio at home!
LyL98gyRL: Hi, my name is Alexis, and I know you guys have collaborated
with Lashanda Reese, Stevie Wonder, Joe, Mariah Carey, and of course Jessica
Simpson, will there be any other collaborations coming up soon?
Drew Lachey: On this record, we don't have any collaborations. Actually
we had one scheduled with Tito Puente. But unfortunately, he passed away; and
music lost a legend.
Marcy926: Hey what's up guys I just want to say thanks for making such
beautiful music. My question is what are you guys doing right now to promote
your new single?

to name a few things
crazy4u: Are any of you single?
Justin Jeffre: Yes I am single
Afrique: What do you look for in a girlfriend? You guys are cool!
Drew Lachey: The first thing that I look for in a girl, is that
she is not just into 98 degrees; but as an individual. also I like girls with a
good sense of humor.
Nick Lachey: Good personality and spirit!
Jeff Timmons: A good sense of humor!
Justin Jeffre: I just look for a girl!
Justin Jeffre: Ditto
fraggle33: is it hard dating and being on the road at the same time for
those of you who are single?
Justin Jeffre: Yes it is very difficult on the road
SWEET2175: It's ok Justin you'll find a nice girl some day just wait and
see
Justin Jeffre: Thank you
ellenchris98: I'm so glad you're single, Justin!
Justin Jeffre: Thank you
tracy: Who would you like to go on tour with as your opening acts?
Justin Jeffre: I would have to say Tatiana Ali
Drew Lachey: I want Limp Bizkit to open up for us!!!
mouffie: Do you guys still get star struck when rub elbows at different
events? Who do you REALLY want to meet?
Nick Lachey: Yes we do get star struck by different people we've looked
up to over the years.
Nick Lachey: I'm dying to meet Bruce Willis.
MegLovesYouIAmErin: Hi, I'm Erin, thanks for that question earlier.
Anyway, I wanted to ask.... if you were on a desert island what THREE things
would you absolutely need to have? (Jeff! Meg's your biggest fan! You're so
cool, we love you!)
Drew Lachey: A Brita water filter, my Toyota Land Cruiser, and, let's
see... a Swiss Army Knife!!
Justin Jeffre: Jet skis and a CD player and water
Nick Lachey: Sailboat, my girlfriend,
Nick Lachey: and a sleeping bag.
Nick Lachey: nah, I'd sleep on the boat. Never mind. Water.
Jeff Timmons: CDs, good food a satellite with good football.
ShiningStar898: When you get homesick, what kinds of things help to cheer
you up, thanks for the question earlier, you guys really are great!
Nick Lachey: A good online chat!
Drew Lachey: Going home is the best thing! And a hefty cell phone bill!!!
Justin Jeffre: Hanging out with a cool fan
Jeff Timmons: Hmmm. what picks me up?
Jeff Timmons: Some good R&R!!!!
98degrees_Baby: Hi, my name is Casey. I was wondering what your idea of
the best place to be was?
Drew Lachey: The best place to be, no matter where you are, is with your
friends.
Nick Lachey: In the arms of the one who loves you.
Justin Jeffre: Hawaii
Drew Lachey: Anywhere that Jeff isn't!
fraggle33: what do you do to pass the long bus hours when you're on the
road?
Jeff Timmons: We play a lot of Playstation...watch movies and sports.
Jeff Timmons: and we also write a lot of songs on the road.
fraggle33: Jeff do you ever play football on your free time? I know you
love football!
Jeff Timmons: No, sometimes we'll play a game of backyard football.
Jeff Timmons: We played Dru Hill in Europe and we SPANKED him!
tash: nick how are you and Jessica? You are such a cute couple!
Alison: Nick how long have u and Jessica Simpson been going together?
Nick Lachey: We've been together a year and a half.
Nick Lachey: And we're great, thank you for asking.
98snumber1fan: Were you guys popular in high school? Were you on any
sports teams or in any clubs?
Nick Lachey: LOL
Drew Lachey: All four of us were members of the debate team and the chess team!
Jeff Timmons: I played sports and I was in a lot of clubs, but I wouldn't
admit to being popular.
bamaboy: Like the show, "Where are they Now?", where do you see
yourselves 10 years from now?
Nick Lachey: Hopefully with happy families and a fairly decent sized
house and still working in music.
Nick Lachey: We'll be on our 8th album by then!
cherrylips73: When are you guys going on tour and if so, do u plan on
coming to Michigan?
Justin Jeffre: We want to do a big tour in January and we definitely want
to go to Michigan and all over
CKpoohKC: Hey guys, I live in Cincinnati and I was just wondering where
your Disney special concert is going to be - I'd love to be in the audience!
CKpoohKC: Where are you doing your Disney concert? I live in Cincinnati
and I'd love to be in the audience!
Nick Lachey: That info will remain confidential for a few more days and
then the location will be announced. Sorry we can't give you the scoop!
drews_girl_2001: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE TO TOUR?
Drew Lachey: We've had great experiences everywhere. But we especially
like going overseas and seeing that reaction from people who don't even speak
English!
Drew Lachey: All two of them!
Pixie: Congrats on the success. Is the album going to have a worldwide
release?
Nick Lachey: Yes, the album will be released worldwide. But domestically,
September 26th.
mouffie: What do you guys enjoy more, putting a new album together or
touring?
Drew Lachey: Each one has their pros and cons.
Drew Lachey: I think any time you start a new project, you get really
excited and motivated, whether it be a tour or an album.
Reality760: What is your next music video?
Drew Lachey: That depends on what we decide to be our second single. We
actually will be adding a poll on our website, so once the album comes out, we'd
like everyone to log on at www.98degrees.com and vote!
ShiningStar898: where are you guys right now?
Nick Lachey: We're in Los Angeles rehearsing for our tour.
ShiningStar898: You guys should really come online more often, this is
great, I love you!!

Teen People Chat
8/04/00
Meet the Guest
98 Degrees
98 Degrees recently joined TEEN PEOPLE Online for a live chat. Read all about it
below...
HostTPZena: Good evening! I'm Zena from TEEN PEOPLE Online and I'm
sitting here with Drew, Jeff, Nick and Justin -- 98 Degrees! They're on the
cover of this month's TEEN PEOPLE and here to take your questions live, so get
them in now! Hey guys!
All: Hey!
Nick Lachey: Thanks for being here tonight.
HostTPZena: Let's get into the questions....MikeK102 would like to
know...
Question: How did you come up with the idea for the video for "Give
Me Just One Night (Una Noche)"?
Drew Lachey: Actually, Wayne Isham, the famous video director, came up
with the concept and the location.
Nick Lachey: Long, hard, hot days! Lots of bugs!
Justin Jeffre: Incredible locations and ancient Mayan ruins.
HostTPZena: It looks fabulous! SPaRKLie HuNNi asks...
Question: I've heard you guys will be going on tour early next year, but
that's too far away!! What can we expect from you in the coming months?
Jeff Timmons: We're going to promoting our single, "Give Me Just One
Night (Una Noche)", doing promo tours overseas, a Disney special airing in
October, Summer Music Mania...
Nick Lachey: That's a big summer concert that airs on September 15.
Jeff Timmons: Most importantly, we're going to be debuting the
performance of the single, "Give Me Just One Night (Una Noche)", on
the Teen Choice Awards on August 22 on Fox.
Nick Lachey: We're touring from January till 2004...the longest tour in
history! Just kidding.
Jeff Timmons: No joke!
Question: When I met you guys, you smelled REALLY good. I gotta ask --
what cologne do you all wear?
Drew Lachey: I wear Allure for Men.
Nick Lachey: I don't really wear colonge.
HostTPZena: That's your natural smell?
Nick Lachey: It's my natural armpit! When I put deodorant on, it's a good
day.
Jeff Timmons: I wear Armani when I have it.
HostTPZena: From Maia...
Question: Do you feel your group is considered a boy band? Because to me
a boy band dances and sings you guys are more vocalists.
Nick Lachey: We never tried to classify ourselves that way, but if people
call us that, they call us that. What differentiates us is the music more than
anything. We write and produce a lot of our own stuff and don't focus on the
dancing. We've stepped it up in the dance department, but I don't think that
qualifies us as a boy band.
HostTPZena: From Lafrancaise77...
Question: Yo 98*!!! What would you say is the one most important thing
your families did for you when you were young to influence your choices in life
today?
Jeff Timmons: Basically, my parents just told me to always keep in mind
the golden rule...treat others how you want to be treated. A lot of the success
from our group, aside from the music, are the relationships that we've developed
with people in the industry. We've developed a reputation for being regular and
down to earth and that makes people want to deal with us more on a lot of
differnet levels.
HostTPZena: And you are very down to earth! Trigham asks...
Question: You guys are so cool!!! My question is: on your new album, did
you guys do any collaborating with other artists? If so, who are some of the
other artists you worked with? Thank you! I love y'all very, very much!!!!
Justin Jeffre: We'd hoped to collaborate with Tito Puente on "Give
Me Just One Night (Una Noche)", but right before he was scheduled to come
into the studio, he became ill and passed away. Music lost a great legend that
day. We decided to not have any artists featured on the album...just to go ahead
and work with other writers and producers.
HostTPZena: From RLLjeff98...
Question: Nick, how did you come up with the idea to rap in
"Dizzy"? Would any of you other guys consider doing a little rapping
on future albums?
Nick Lachey: Well, it was a big blank spot in the song. Something had to
go there, so my rap kind of fell in by default. I did it as a joke at first, but
people kind of liked it, so it stuck around. And now I have to pay the price.
Justin Jeffre: I would have considered rapping in the past, but now that
I've heard NL Cool Lachey, he's set the precedent...I don't even want to try it.
Nick Lachey: He's a wise man!
Question: Jeff, I think it's really cool that you talked about your
daughter in the new Teen People...I think that's so cool that you're into your
family. How have people been about your announcement?
Jeff Timmons: So far, the reaction's been terrific. We've always known
that our fans have been more into our music than anything else, so I'm not
surprised about it.
Question: How do you guys think you'd do on "Survivor"? --
Renee**
MSN Chat October 2000
Digital Dish Diva says:
Welcome to MSN Live! Tonight we are pleased to welcome 98 Degrees back to MSN
Live. Joining us onstage tonight will be Jeff, Justin, Drew and Nick who will be
answering fan questions about their new CD, "Revelation" and single,
"Una Noche" ("Give me Just One Night.") Tonight expect a few
revelations, like which sexy young blonde singer will be sharing the stage with
98 Degrees in their upcoming Disney special and which NBC series they will be
appearing in, in October.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
First up is Nick, welcome back to MSN Live!
Nick says:
Thanks for logging on and fire away!!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Nick, let's start with the audience questions!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
probabe says: Tell me about the vibe on the new CD. I love it so much.
Nick says:
I just think it's very diverse and well rounded CD. A lot more up-tempo than our
past CDs.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
alicia says: Who came up with the idea for "Una Noche"?
Nick says:
It was actually written by two producers, Anders and Arnthour, from Sweden, it
was their idea.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Was it hard at all to learn the Spanish?
Nick says:
It wasn't too bad. We don't really know it, we just learned the pronunciation of
it.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Allsweet20 says: What inspired you to name your CD "Revelation"?
Nick says:
"Revelation" represents the experiences and changes we've been through
the past 2-3 years. The way it's been a revelation to us, this business.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
SeaOBXgirl8 Asks: On the lyrics it doesn't have what the girl says. What does
she say?
Nick says:
It's basically like, "You're so hot and I love the way you move, the way
you touch me. . . Yada yada. . ."
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Maggie23_01 says: What's your next single going to be?
Nick says:
: "My Everything."
Digital Dish Diva
says:
nonna says: I am going to see you tomorrow at the Mall of America. Are you
excited and will you be doing signings?
Nick says:
Yeah, we're very excited. We are going to be a signing and a mini meet and
greet. We've very excited to perform, everyone, please come out!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
And get there early!
Nick says:
I think the performance is at 11am.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
boogieboo2 says: Where did you film the video "Una Noche" ?
Nick says:
We filmed the video in Mexico. The Mayan Ruins in Mexico.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
SweetKisses118 Asks: When are you guys going to start touring again?
Nick says:
We're going to actually tour the beginning of next year. We're spending the rest
of this year doing a lot of international promotion.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
EVDluver Asks: If you could be anyone else for one day, who would it be and why?
Nick says:
Bruce Willis!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
cutey_2003 Asks: What influenced them to be in the entertainment business?
Nick says:
My parents were always very supportive of what I wanted to do, and I always just
had a love for music.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
vball0023 says: When you're touring who do you miss the most?
Nick says:
You definitely miss your friends and family back home. You don't get the chance
to go see them very much.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
beetle_lover0 Asks: Did it take you awhile to get use to all of the popularity
or did it not effect you at all?
Nick says:
It certainly still is hard for us to get used to. I don't think you ever get
used to this life style.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
weetKisses118 Asks: If you could have been in any other occupation, what would
it be?
Nick says:
Probably would like to be in sports, sports caster, anchor.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
You definitely have that sports guy kinda look. What sports do you play?
Nick says:
No, actually when we went to performing arts school, they didn't have any sports
so I didn't have the chance. If I could change anything, that would be what I
would change.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Guest_I_Love_Nick Asks: What does it feel like being up on stage in front of
thousands of people?
Nick says:
It's more exhilarating and exciting than anything else.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
cherriez511 Asks: Do you have a lot of alone time?
Nick says:
Yeah, very little down time, but on a plane you sleep or read. You do get very
little, but we do get some. Most of the time it's work.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
DaBaddestChick4 Asks: What was it like the first time to hear a song of yours on
the radio?
Nick says:
Awesome!! The entire group just sat there and listened, no one said a word. It's
what you work for so hard, and to hear it happen, it's amazing. We were at the
Argyle hotel.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Guest_DegrzLover98 Asks: What is the most annoying habit one of the other guys
has that drives you crazy?
Nick says:
They don't really have any annoying habits that drive me crazy.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
cutey_2003 Asks: Do you guys spend much time together when not performing?
Nick says:
We do hang out together. We were friends before the group and our friendship is
still good. We definitely do hang out, outside of work.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
libs81 says: What's the biggest drawback to being a celebrity?
Nick says:
It's just a tradeoff, but it would be the loss of privacy. Your life being in
the public eye all the time. But, small price to pay.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Nick, thanks for joining us tonight. Good luck with the show at the Mall of
America tomorrow!
Nick says:
Thanks to all our fans and thanks for picking up "Revelation." I hope
you enjoy it!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Hey Justin, welcome to MSN Live!
Justin says:
Hey what's up everybody?! Thanks for coming online to chat with us!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
KDMF says: I can't wait! What TV show will you be on in October? .
Digital Dish Diva
says:
And who is that special guest? Hoku?
Justin says:
We will be on the Disney Channel with a special we did in Cincinnati, and
talking a lot about our hometown. Also we'll be on "Just Shoot Me."
Yes, Hoku will be the special guest.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
_Waikiki_ Asks: What is the most embarrassing question you've ever been asked?
Justin says:
I don't know. I guess, we've been propositioned by a total stranger, fan, a
young girl and I was really caught off guard because she was way too young to be
saying the things she was saying.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Ninee8degrezgal Asks: This question is 4 Justin: What is your most favorite song
on the CD?
Justin says:
I guess my favorite song is "My Everything." I got to help write it
and I just think it's a song that feels good, it's got beautiful lyrics, just a
great love song.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Sp9ro8uT Asks: How would you describe the guys using only one word?
Justin says:
Jeff would be Joker; Nick would be intense; Drew would be sarcastic; and I would
be laid back.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
chicka_biddy_ Asks: Why are the guys deciding to get into Spanish type music?
Justin says:
Well, I think, "Una Noche" definitely has some Latin flavor, but
that's the only hint of Spanish on the album. We just like it because it felt
good. We've been inspired from all different types of music including Latin
music.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
NikJeffDrew
Justin says:
Do your friends and other people you know, treat you differently now that you
are a celebrity?
Justin says:
Well our friends pretty much treat us the same, but everyone else does treat you
a little bit different. Especially people that never were your friends, but now
try and act like they are.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
DizzyLaura411 says: Where do the guys get the energy to do all those live
concert shows?
Justin says:
It's just something we really enjoy doing. It's a lot of fun to go out there and
hear the screams of the fans. It's very exciting. And that gets us pumped up.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
ladyblue260 says: Where is the most beautiful place you ever been when your
touring?
Justin says:
Probably Hawaii. We did a show with Janet Jackson that was the biggest concert
in the history of Hawaii.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
SaEsXhY Asks: Who would be your biggest role model of all time?
Justin says:
I'd guess I'd have to say Stevie Wonder because not only is he such a talented
singer, songwriter, and musician, but a great person with a big heart.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
drunk_princess says: Do you ever miss your family when you are on the road? How
do u cope with it?
Justin says:
Yes, all the time! You try to see them whenever you can and talk to them when
you can, but it is pretty tough.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
RevelationChick98 Asks: Do you guys plan on doing any duets with anyone any time
soon?
Justin says:
Not really in the near future. We'll mainly be performing songs from the new
album, which doesn't feature anyone else. But in the distant future, we'd like
to work with a lot of different people.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
frack2820 Asks: How do you feel about being recognized as role models? I really
admire you guys a lot!
Justin says:
Thank you very much! We just try to be as positive as we can. Because we like to
help inspire people but we don't mind being called role models, but we're
definitely not perfect.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
EVDluver Asks: What was your favorite toy as a child?
Justin says:
Probably the first video game I ever had, it was called Odyssey 2000.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
andrealuvs98 Asks: Hey! I love you so much, the new CD is amazing! I was
wondering, how do you feel about Napster?
Justin says:
I feel that it's a problem right now in the music industry because artists have
enough trouble making enough money to be successful and to live as it is,
especially new artists. Napster is basically stealing music from those artists.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
MickeyM6 Asks: As a fellow buckeye do you guys ever get to watch Ohio State or
Cinni football?
Justin says:
Yes we do. The guys are football fanatics! So if there's any way they can
rearrange their schedule to see a game, they always do.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
SKATER_KRIS Asks: What does "Una Noche" mean?
Justin says:
One night.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
chicadesalsa Asks: Does anyone in the group know how to speak Spanish?
Justin says:
No, nobody really can speak Spanish, but I am very interested in learning. And
I've set that as one of my goals for this next year.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Justin, thanks for being our guest this evening. Buenos Noches!
Justin says:
Thanks everybody for talking to us and supporting us! We hope you all enjoy the
new CD. Look for us in concert next year. We love you!! Muchas gracias!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Drew, welcome to MSN Live!
Drew says:
What's up everybody?! What's everybody doing tonight?!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
sugarangel0 Asks: What is your favorite song to perform live?
Drew says:
Well it changes regularly, but right now, my favorite song would be "The
Way You Want Me."
Digital Dish Diva
says:
MickeyM6 Asks: With being away from home a lot, do you guys ever take anything
from home? Like a stuffed animal.
Drew says:
No, we're a little old for stuffed animals. (laughs) But we do try and take
whatever is going to remind us of home, whether it's pictures, CD, etc.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Do you have a favorite item to take with you?
Drew says:
I always take a camera.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
adriana_41 says: What makes this record different from your last one?
Drew says:
I think the definite obvious difference is the quality of up-tempos and the
overall production has improved tremendously.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Bella says: When you were little, what posters did you have on your wall. I
can't even see my wall- It is plastered with you guys!
Drew says:
When I was little the only posters I had up were of Michael Jordan and fancy
cars.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Do you have a fancy car now?
Drew says:
No, I've got an SUV and no, I don't have Firestone tires, for all of those who
are asking me that right now.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
tracyluvs98 Asks: Who spends the most time getting ready in the morning?
Drew says:
Nick.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
syleeladeez says: Where is their favorite place that they've done a concert at?
Drew says:
There's a place called the Gorge outside of Seattle. It's on a cliff, and it's a
really nice place to perform.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
J6RC says: What is the wildest thing you guys have done?
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Or what you can tell us anyway. . .
Drew says:
I can't even remember right now. But when I was younger, I definitely had a
serious wild streak.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
harvardbound Asks: what was it like working as a paramedic?
Drew says:
It was, at the same time, both exhilarating and depressing.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
jennij1999 Asks: what was your favorite video to make?
Drew says:
Mine would probably be "I Do." I just had a lot of fun doing it. It
was the least amount of work for us individually because we have 4 separate
scenarios. We had a really good time, a lot of fun.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
mysugar98 Asks: When retirement time rolls around, where would you want to
permanently settle? LUV YA!
Drew says:
I definitely think when retirement rolls around, I would want to be near my
family, so my children (when I have them) will be able to have a close
relationship with their Grandparents.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Luv98degrees Asks: Are you guys going to do "Making the Video" with
the "My Everything" single?
Drew says:
That is up to MTV. But we would definitely like to because it's a fun show!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
98gurl Asks: Ho was it like filming the Disney special?
Drew says:
The Disney special was a lot of fun. We got to record it in our hometown of
Cincinnati and it was also the first time to perform the new material.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Mrs_Trippers Asks: Are there any old musical legends, that you look up to?
Drew says:
There are many! All the great Motown legends and also ones like George Clinton
and Funkadelic.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Do you ever visit the fan sites for 98 Degrees?
Drew says:
Yes, on occasion, but mostly, we just visit our own site to read the message
boards and to make updates.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
yourluckyurtalkingtome says: How is it working with Hoku? I luv Drew for life.
Drew says:
Hoku was very sweet. A very nice girl. And a lot of fun.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Check out what Hoku had to say about her music and her famous dad at http://chat.msn.com/msnlive/features/hoku51700.asp
Digital Dish Diva
says:
princessof914 says: What are some of the things that you got to do in your
hometown that you haven't gotten to do in a while because of being on the road
so much?
Drew says:
Well, there were a couple of things we did for the first time, like batting
practice with the Reds and going to Bengals training camp.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
debthe_1 Asks: D you get nervous on stage? .
Drew says:
Very rarely. But I do sometimes get nervous energy.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Drew, thanks for being our guest tonight. Good luck with tomorrow's concert at
the Mall of America!
Drew says:
Thank you everyone for logging on! If you haven't checked out
"Revelation" go check it out, we're very proud of it. Thank you and
good night!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Jeff, welcome to MSN Live. It's great to see you!
Jeff says:
It's great to be here! Want to thank all our fans for joining us this evening!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Jeff, I know a lot has happened in the past year. Congratulations on your
daughter!
Jeff says:
Thank you very much! I'm very proud of my daughter and I'm getting a lot of
support from my fans.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
We have hundreds and hundreds of well wishes for you!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
TexasChick98 Asks: How do you feel about the youth of America? I'm a 23-year-old
teacher and am attempting to make a "change" but I am only one person.
What would you do to better the world, if you were suddenly given that power?
Jeff says:
I do feel we do have a lot of power to make positive changes. I think leading by
example is on, being a positive person and showing people that it is possible
for one individual to make a lot of changes in a positive manner.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Saba979 Asks: "Una Nocha" and Dizzy are great dance songs, what do you
want your next video to be?
Jeff says:
Well the next video is going to be for the single "My Everything." And
I hope it just has a lot of charisma and excitement to keep the viewers
interested and attentive.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
NJJD_gurl98 Asks: What should we expect from you guys this upcoming year?
Jeff says:
You can just expect us to do a lot of touring for our new album
"Revelation" and a lot of growth musically for us and for our live
show to be very exciting and full of energy.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Guest_nelsie Asks: What songs are you guys gonna be singing at Mall of America
tomorrow?
Jeff says:
As far as I know, we're going to be singing "The Way You Want Me To,"
"Una Noche," and "My Everything."
Digital Dish Diva
says:
cutey_2003 Asks: If you could say two words about this whole experience starting
from the beginning to now, what would it be?
Jeff says:
Learning experience!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
I'll bet!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
johann_3000 says: What message did you try to give in any of your songs?
Jeff says:
Sure! A lot of our songs have to do with themes about love. Songs like "My
Everything" not only have a message about love and relationships, but love
for life and spirituality in general.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
JEFFS_GURL1 Asks: What is your favorite part about performing? I luv You Jeff.
Jeff says:
Thank you very much! My favorite part is seeing the fans react to our songs and
seeing them sing along.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
ilove98degrees says: Has there been anything about fatherhood that has surprised
you?
Jeff says:
Not really. It's everything I've expected it to be and more. It's a blast
actually!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Weazy26 Asks: What kind of reaction do you have when you hear these girls
proclaim there love for you? Does it scare you a little bit?
Jeff says:
No, that never scares me. It's very flattering, and also funny. At the same
time, I know they don't know me personally and it's all just me being in this
group.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Sweetksss4ever says: Have you guys talked about what the content of the video
"My Everything" will be?
Jeff says:
We've looked over a few of the treatments for the video, but we haven't decided
on a concept yet.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Catharsis_Babe Asks: What's the weirdest thing that's ever happened to you at a
concert?
Jeff says:
The weirdest thing was when we performed for the multiple sclerosis Charity
Event and was wearing an ear monitor and hear the music and realized later there
was nothing in the audience, so we were just dancing on stage to them. It was so
embarrassing.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
beetle_lover0 Asks: When did you finally realize "Hey we made it in this
business"?
Jeff says:
I think we started to feel good about ourselves when we did the duet with Stevie
Wonder on the last album.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
imgonnadojustin Asks: What's the funnest place to go on tour?
Jeff says:
Most places are fun anyway because the fans are excited. But I would say my
favorite spot to tour is Southeast Asia because the weather is wonderful.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Heavenly478 Asks: What have you contributed to the people or community that
makes you feel proud?
Jeff says:
We try and give back as often as we can. We made a pact amongst ourselves before
we got popular. We've donated to a lot of charity foundations like Pediatrics
Aids Foundation, MS, Habitat for Humanity, Columbine High School and many other
charities.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
That is wonderful. You guys are the best!
Jeff says:
Thank you!
Digital Dish Diva
says:
libs81 says: What is the biggest extravagant gift you've bought yourself?
Jeff says:
I haven't really bought myself anything exciting yet, but I bought my girlfriend
a truck, my mom a Mercedes and my dad a Harley.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Nice!
Jeff says:
I'd rather do that than buy myself anything.
Digital Dish Diva
says:
Well, Jeff I know you guys need to get going. Thanks for joining us on MSN Live!
Jeff says:
We would just like to thank all our fans for their continuous support to 98
Degrees. If you haven't checked out the album yet, check it out, it's well worth
it.

PUPPY-LOVE SONGSTERS AS HOT AS THEIR NAME
MICHAEL MUSTO: Do you feel that your group is
moving beyond a teen audience?
NICK LACHEY: Yeah. When we put the group
together in 1995, we thought of ourselves as similar to Boyz II Men. Then along
the way we got pigeonholed into the boy-band phenomenon. But the motivation of
the group was bigger than that.
MM: What did you think of 2Gether, the MTV
movie spoofing boy bands?
NL: It's garbage, but a lot of things they say
in the movie are true. People automatically assume we're from Florida, that we
were put together, and that there are five of us--all wrong. It's also humorous
that that group and its song, "U+Me=Us," is on every day--it's an
actual song that's become popular.
MM: The satire became the reality. Do you think
the Backstreet Boys are out of line by saying 'N Sync has been copying them?
NL: I think that 'N Sync had opportunities laid
out in front of them because of their connections with people whom Backstreet
were affiliated with, and to not utilize those connections would be stupid.
That's just life. They're both very talented groups.
MM: Is there anything weird about working with
your girlfriend, Jessica Simpson [with whom Lachey did a duet on "Where You
Are"]?
NL: No. At least when we're working together we
know we'll be around each other.
MM: We photographed you with Space Puppies. Do
you have real pets?
NL: My little brother, who's eight, has a dog
that's my pet when I'm around. Definitely, when I have a place and I'm going to
be there for any significant amount of time, I want to have dogs. I like a pet
you can have some fun with and who does everything you do. It's kind of hard
with a hermit crab, but dogs are definitely cool.

Chat with 98 Degrees' Nick Lachey
November 28, 7 p.m. (EST)
Nick: Hey everybody, thanks for rocking on. It's nice to be here!
i_luv_Nick04: Hey Nick! I
love the new album, Revelation, and I love 98 Degrees! I was wondering
who some of your influences were for the album?
Nick: Writing-wise, Jessica was a big
inspiration for the songs that I wrote, and other life experiences.
lovebsb100: Are you
excited to perform at Rockefeller Center for the lighting of the Christmas tree?
Nick: Very, yeah. It's gonna be a big
party. We've watched that in years past and seen other acts do that, so we're
very excited. It's gonna be wild.
murphyva: First of all, Revelation
is so awesome! I've heard that 98 Degrees are doing a Christmas special on
Christmas Eve. What's the word on that? Thanks and I love you so much!
Nick: Not that I know about. I think you
might be referring to the Disney special -- and I think we're performing three
songs. We're taping that prior to Christmas Eve, but it's airing on Christmas.
We'll be at home with our families on Christmas day.
Kristen Nick: Are there
any songs that are really special to you on the album?
Nick: The song that's most special to me
is "My Everything". I wrote it basically for Jessica.
Mands: Everyone here is
amazed at the strong relationship you have with Jessica. What does it feel like
to know that your relationship is in the public eye?
Nick: Sometimes it can be a little bit
stressful. But for the most part, everyone's been very respectful and cool about
it.
Jess11298: Obviously your
success has given you everything you've dreamed of, but would you ever consider
going back to school? If so, for what?
Nick: I think if I was gonna go back to
school, it would be for sports broadcasting. If I wasn't doing this, then I
could definitely see myself broadcasting sports.
jeffanatic: How will you
be spending the holidays this year?
Nick: We'll be at home with our
families, which is the first time in a couple of years we'll be able to do that.
Then, spending some time with Jessica in Colorado. Maybe I'll learn how to ski.
lacheys101: What do you do
in your spare time?
Nick: Most of the time, I like to either
watch or play sports -- I'm a big sports fan. I also like to try to work out
when I can. I love football -- it's my favorite.
linanne84: We all know
what kind of music you sing, but what kind of music do you listen to in your
free time?
Nick: I really listen to a little of
everything. I like classic rock and R&B a lot. Rock, jazz -- I listen to a
bunch of stuff.
diabla_chica: When are you
guys planning to go on tour again? And I can't wait to see you next Friday at
the DRQ Kringle Jingle!
Nick: We're gonna go on tour -- a full
North American tour starting in March of next year. That will happen throughout
the spring and summer. So we'll definitely hit just about everywhere.
sparkygrl43: Hey Nick, all
of my friends are over at my house! When are you going to come to Tucson? Also,
I really love the song, "You are my Everything", because it reminds me
of my brother who passed away. Thank you so much for singing that song so
beautifully. It really means a lot to me.
Nick: That's very cool -- a very cool
message. I'm not sure exactly when we're coming to Tucson, but I'm sure we're
coming there, or somewhere close to there like Phoenix. Probably in March or
April.
lilcrazy: Who were your
biggest influences growing up?
Nick: Well in life, my dad was probably
my biggest influence. He was kind of always my role model. In music, a little of
everything. When I was growing up, Michael Jackson and Duran Duran were huge.
Later on, people like Brian McKnight, Boys II Men, and Stevie Wonder
(obviously). Those are some of the bigger influences.
NAsPlayBunni: Were you
Drew's best man in his wedding? Congrats to him!
Nick: Yeah, I was.
Binya1313: If you were
granted one wish, what would it be and why?
Nick: I guess I'd like to end racism.
That'd be my one wish.
Emmalia: Where do you see
yourself in 10 years?
Nick: Probably married, with kids.
Hopefully still very involved in music in some capacity.
sense212: Where do you
like to perform the most?
Nick: Really it's not so much the place,
it's the crowd. Whenever the crowd is really hyped and enthusiastic, that always
makes a great performance. But, I think it's always special when you get to go
home and perform for your hometown.
NickandJess4eva: Hey Nick,
me and my best friend love you! Anyway, what's the last album you bought?
Nick: I just got the new Sade CD. It's
good, it's got a real mellow kinda vibe. I also got the Ricky Martin CD the same
day.
Awesum_Luvr: How did you
decide on the name 98 Degrees?
Nick: We wanted something that pretty
much represented our music. Because we were always into ballads, it seemed like
it represented the heat and passion of our music.
98_luver12: If you could
do a song with any artist, who would it be?
Nick: We got to do one with Stevie
Wonder which was a dream come true. And I got to do one with Jessica, which was
also a dream. So I'd have to say, Sade. I'd love to sing with her.
musicqt: What was a music
group that you looked up to when you were young?
Nick: When I was really young, Depeche
Mode or Duran Duran. But I really respect Boyz II Men for the music.
nbcmednews: Nick, what
does the 98 Degrees Foundation do and how can fans get involved?
Nick: It doesn't really target one
specific charity, but we really try to do stuff with kids and anything we can do
trying to raise money for kids, like Pediatric AIDS. But we also did something
for MS recently. We just did another AIDS benefit, and Spielberg just held a big
concert that we were a part of for charity. Anything where our name can help.
And fans can just do their own thing -- support local charities.
scy3482: What do you and Jessica
do for fun whenever you have some free time?
Nick: We're pretty mellow. We like to
rent movies a lot, go out to movies, or dinner. We do a lot of laying around.
FFF98: What is your
favorite group to tour with?
Nick: Well, I had a lot of fun when
Jessica was out on the road, because that gave us an opportunity to spend time
together. So, she'd probably be my favorite.
Kimmiegirl: What is the
one thing that makes you proud of what you've accomplished in your life that
doesn't necessarily come from 98 Degrees?
Nick: It makes me proud to make my
parents proud. And I enjoy seeing how proud and how excited they get about
things.
Raveena: Nick, where would
you see yourself if you hadn't become a singer?
Nick: Probably something in sports. I
was doing sports medicine. If not that, probably sports broadcasting or
something sports-related.
Kassie: Where did you meet
Jessica?
Nick: We used to have the same
management. So I met her through that situation.
biggest98fan: Do you see
yourself doing music 10 years from now?
Nick: Yeah, definitely in some capacity,
whether it be writing or producing. But music is something I love to do and
something I'd do anyway.
Emmalia: How do you stay
positive when you read not-so-nice things about yourself?
Nick: I just really think of life as a
roller coaster, so I know for every low there's gonna be a high and just try to
ride it even.
lv984ever: I was also
wondering if you Jessica plan on doing any duets in the future like "Where
You Are"?
Nick: I'm sure that at some point we'd
love to collaborate like that. We don't have any plans set in stone, but we
really enjoyed doing that.
aw5@hotmail: Would you
ever consider acting? If so, what kind of movies would you do?
Nick: Yeah, I would love to try acting.
I'd like to do all different kinds of stuff. But at some point I'd definitely
like to do an action movie.
hunysukle21: Where's your
favorite place to take a vacation?
Nick: Hawaii is incredible. The
Caribbean is also beautiful. I love warm vacations.
slider436: Who is your all
time favorite musical artist?
Nick: I'd say Stevie Wonder. I think he
was incredible and he did it first. There have been great ones after him, but he
was just amazing.
rinny4211: What's the one thing
you miss the most when you are on tour?
Nick: Just being home and seeing my
family and friends, or my girlfriend.
Diva01: What is the
craziest thing a fan has ever done to try to meet you?
Nick: One time I came back from the gym
at the hotel, and there were girls hiding under the laundry cart in the hall.
They jumped out and started taking pictures!
scy3482: What is the most
romantic thing you have ever done?
Nick: I guess one of the more romantic
things was when Jessica was in Chicago and I was in New York -- I flew there and
sent her something from room service, and when she opened the door, I was
standing there.
misskukla651: Do you have
any rituals that you do before the show?
Nick: We always get together with the
band and whoever's part of the show and pray. And we usually do a little pep
rally kind of thing and put our hands in the middle and do a sort of "Go
Team" but instead of saying that we say whatever we feel like saying that
day.
kelbel164: What is your
most embarrassing moment?
Nick: There was a time in Milwaukee when
I went to jump on a chair onstage. And one foot hit the chair and it just slid
right out in front of me and I hit the stage. There was nothing I could do to
cover it up. That was pretty embarrassing.
nickluvr4eva: How do you feel
about your rivals, *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys?
Nick: I definitely respect everything
that they're doing and the success that they've had. That's about it.
kelbel164: How often do
you work out?
Nick: Probably two or three times a
week. It should be more, but it doesn't really work out that way.
marzay28: Who do you want
to see in concert?
Nick: I would love to see Metallica in
concert. I've never seen them and I've heard they put on a great live show.
jennifer18: What inspired you to
sing?
Nick: I just always enjoyed it. My mom
put me in a church choir when I was little, and I always really enjoyed it.
Going to a performing arts high school also helped me become enthusiastic about
it because it was a cool thing to do.
Emmalia: What advice would
you give someone who wants to "make it" in the music business?
Nick: I would say first and foremost,
believe in yourself and your abilities, and believe it can happen. Once you have
that mentality and that faith, just work your tail off. Don't ever look back and
think, "I could have done more".
AngalBabay: What one thing
could you not live without?
Nick: I really don't have anything else
that I HAVE to have with me. Probably my friends and family.
NVBEAUTY: What do you
think of people downloading your songs off of Napster? Does that upset you at
all?
Nick: It upsets me only because it's how
we make a living -- selling our music. Napster becomes almost like stealing or
looting. But I think that downloading is an inevitable situation that the music
industry will have to deal with. I think it's a powerful tool as long as it's
done fairly.
david: What is your fav
song that Jessica sings, and why?
Nick: The first one -- "I Want to
Be Forever". The first time I heard that song, I thought her voice was so
powerful.
Awesum_Luvr: What did you do the
first time you heard your song played on the radio?
Nick: We all sat around and just smiled.
I remember we were in a hotel room in L.A. and it came on. We just sat there and
listened to it, and everyone just had a huge grin on their faces. It was a neat
feeling.
lv984ever: What is one
thing about you that even your most devoted fan wouldn't know?
Nick: I sleep in the nude.
Shorty718: What is the
best experience you have had with your career?
Nick: Well, it's probably right now.
There have been a lot of highs, like singing with Stevie Wonder. But what's
really exciting now is that I wrote the single that's out now, and it's on the
radio.
lovefan15: Have you ever,
or will you ever, consider doing a solo album?
Nick: Yeah man, I don't know. I think
that' s something that would be a lot of fun one day. It's definitely something
I'd love to try.
destinyangel: Do you ever
get a chance to surf the Internet?
Nick: Very rarely. When I do, I usually
go to sports sites. We go on our official sites sometimes -- check out the chat
room and see what people are saying.
98*luva: Do you like all
the attention that you get from your fans? How do you deal with the
"obsessive" fans?
Nick: Most of the time it's very cool
when everyone's respectful and they know their bounds. It's cool that people are
into what we're doing, but sometimes you have to let the obsessive fans know
they've crossed the line.
fff98: If you could be a cartoon
character who would you be and why?
Nick: Probably Hong Kong Fui. He's an
old cartoon character. A dog who knew karate who just kicked everybody's a**.
tootyfruitygrl: Was it
hard for you to learn Spanish for "Una Noche"?
Nick: No. We had someone who was really
talented working with us. He was actually kind of surprised because we picked it
up pretty quickly.
Maria_greek: What is the silliest
rumor you have ever heard about yourself or the rest of the group?
Nick: Probably that Jessica and I are
just a publicity thing, that we're not really together. That's probably one of
the most ridiculous things I've heard.
FFF98: What are your New
Years Eve plans?
Nick: I'm not sure yet. I'm not sure
where we're gonna be. I don't think we'll be performing anywhere but I'm not
positive.
fourfootnine: What does
your tattoo mean?
Nick: The one on my back symbolizes the
story of the phoenix -- the bird rising from the ashes -- the determination and
perseverance.
zirconia: Nick,
congratulations to you and to the guys for another spectacular album. I wanted
to ask: What has been one of your favorite memories this past year, and why is
it your favorite?
Nick: I guess one of the neatest things
that happened this past year was that we did a Disney special in our hometown,
Cincinnati. We got kind of a hero's welcome, and keys to the city. We did this
big free concert, about 7 or 8,000 people came down for it.
tweetythebird80: If you
could be invincible for a day, what would you do?
Nick: Something really daredevil, like
jumping out of a plane without a parachute. Something that's really high risk.
Jumping motorcycles or racing Nascars.
Nick: Thanks everybody for hanging out
with us tonight and check out the new album. Merry Christmas!
